It began in 1977 in Ennis and the story continues in 2009. The unique blend of traditional and contemporary Irish music and song that is Stockton’s Wing is instantly recognisable and is loved the world over. It might be 5 years since they played in their hometown but in January Stockton’s Wing comes home. One of Ireland’s most popular bands of all time is set to reform for a once off concert. Ennis based Production 63 presents Stocktons Wing at the West County Hotel in Ennis on Saturday 31st January 2009.

Stocktons Wing will be supported by local band The Fiddle Case. This trio comprises Eoin O Neill, Quentin Cooper and Emer Howley but according to Eoin there will be a guest or two with them on the night. Acts will be introduced by Clare FM presenter Ger Sweeney.

Charlie Landsborough - 18th November 2008

The legendary singer and songwriter Charlie Landsborough will be performing in the West County Hotel for one night only on the 18th of November. (Event from 7:30 till late.)

Charlie performs a unique, melodious blend of country-style folk music and is perhaps best known in Ireland for his song “What Colour is the Wind?” which was a number one hit in the Irish charts in the mid nineties.

Tickets cost €30 and are available at the West County reception desk.

Carl Froch to train for WBC title at Breaffy House Resort

British boxer Carl “The Cobra” Froch will be carrying out Irelands First ever World Title Fight Professional Boxing Camp at Breaffy for 4 weeks.

He is fighting for the WBC World Super Middle Weight Title in his home town of Nottingham on December 6th against Canadian Jean Pascal before an anticipated viewership in excess of 5 million, live on ITV 1.

Jean Pascal’s record is an impressive 21-0 victories, in other words, undefeated and so in order to train and prepare himself for this fight, Froch has, from any number of possible global locations, opted to choose Breaffy House Resort as his offical training HQ.

We are all very proud to have Carl training at Breaffy and wish him well in his title fight.
